Voidanta is a set of guidelines/laws based on the teachings of Advaita Vedanta. Voidanta is very flexible, as it allows the user to practice in whatever way they like. You can remain dualistic, or you can delve into nonduality. You can bring your sense of self back to the true self, or you can hold its hand through life. You can use it in conjunction with other spiritual practices, or you can use this as a standalone practice. The following sentences can be used as laws to stick hard to, or guidelines to keep oneself within the lines.
Either way, to follow these words in life is one way to walk into freedom:
There is a witness to all appearances/things.
All appearances/things are part of the witness, but not affecting the witness
There is a void surrounding and pervading everything
The Void is the witness
The witness is you
Assisting Meditation: (to help you get a feel of nothingness)
1) Locate “The Void”/the nothingness in the background of your consciousness. Confirm that there is indeed a void behind and around your field of perception.
2) Imagine The Void expands to surround and pervade your entire body. Rest in this for a while. Taste the bliss.
3) Imagine The Void expands to surround and pervade the whole universe. Rest in this. Taste your connection to everything.
4) Realize that YOU are watching thoughts and senses FROM The Void. Pull yourself back to the vast space of the void, and simply observe.
So the witness is the true self? If you want to better understand this, head on over to Intro to the True Self.
